An ultramarathon is a footrace longer than the traditional marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers (26 miles 385 yards). There is no official distance for an ultramarathon, but most races are between 50 and 100 kilometers (31 and 62 miles). Some ultramarathons are even longer, with distances of up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) or more.
Ultramarathons are becoming increasingly popular, with more and more people participating in these challenging races each year. There are a number of reasons for this popularity, including the desire for a new challenge, the opportunity to test one’s limits, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with completing an ultramarathon.
